The Workbench

I am constantly forging new content for Avonia. Sometimes I need a second opinion. Sometimes I need third, fourth, fith, sixth, and seventh opinions. The workbench is where I'll have my partly-finished creations on-deck. Feel free to browse and feel obligated to comment on my creations here. Just shoot me an email and I'll be as happy as a clam. What does that saying really mean, anyway? Who the heck knows how happy a clam is?

History
This is the unfinished revised history of Avonia. It only coveres up to around the end of the last campaign. It is unedited and is missing some information as it is. But, for those of you curious about it - enjoy.
This work may go unfinished - the history as-is is not palettable, so I'm going to work on designing something else for it.

Spellcraft Checks for Item Identification
I personally don't like the idea too much, but two of my players have expressed an interest in being able to use Spellcraft checks in order to identify magical items. So, based upon the suggestion at the WotC website I have created a version of the skill use that is more towards my flavor. So read it, enjoy, and let me know what you think.
Identifying Magic Items using Spellcraft
This was originally inspired by an article on the Wizards of the Coast Website (Save My Game: Identifying Magic Items - http://www.wizards.com/default.asp?x=dnd/sg/20051125a)\

This is an alternate method of identifying magic items for the d20 system.

Characters that have access to the spellcraft skill can make a spellcraft check in order to determine a magical property of a magical item.  When you discover a function of a magical item you also find out method of activation, it's command word (if applicable) and the number of charges or uses the ability has.

*It might not be possible to identify all (or any) of an artifact's powers without the proper references or other information.
**Magic items with more magical effect are harder to identify.  It is possible to partially identify a magical item, revealing only a few of it's enchantments.
***A cursed item will be identified as a normal, functional item if this DC is not met.

If you have 5 or more ranks in Craft(Alchemy) you recieve a +2 bonus to identify potions
If you have 5 or more ranks in Decipher Script you recieve a +2 bonus to identify scrolls
If you have 5 or more ranks in Use Magic Device you recieve a +2 bonus to identify magic items
If you have the Bardic Knowledge or similar class skill you may add your bard or applicable level to any spellcraft check you make to determine the function of a magic item.
