Pale Elves

Pale elves are a subrace of elven society that have been outcasts for reasons that even the oldest elf cannot recall. Unlike dark elves (drow), pale elves are not loathed by the other races. Pale elves live in segmented societies away from most other species that tend to relocate when they feel the wind is right. Some pale elves are true loners in every sense, however, and take to the life of a hermit.
Elves that are cast out of elven society sometimes seek refuge with the pale elves, although they are not true pale elves themselves.
Pale elves have been known to be guides throughout the land of Nostandor. For both wilderness and spiritual journeys the pale elves are sought after for help, as they possess an air of foresight about them.

Personality: Pale elves share many traits that other elven races display, such as patience and focus. Most tend to express either a feeling of inferiority or dislike towards the rest of elven society, which is easily seen in their actions. Other elves often say that they can see that a certain spark of life is missing from them.

Physical Description: Pale elves are short to average in height, standing between 4 ½ feet to 5 1/3 feet tall and weight anywhere from 80 to 160 pounds. Pale elven males are usually slightly taller and heavier than female pale elves. They have very light skin, which has become their namesake. Their hair tends to be shades of brown or black while their eyes are typically earth tones. Some pale elves have the light brown or blonde hair and vibrant eye color of other races, however this is very rare. They have no facial or body hair other than their head. Pale elves reach maturity around age 100 and live to be about 700 years old. Unlike other elves, once their time as come they do not take the journey to the next lands but will die instead.
As with other elves, pale elves do not sleep but enter a meditative 'trance' that rejuvenates them just as well as a human who sleeps 8 hours. A pale elf who trances for 2 hours a day feels as refreshed as other races do after 8 hours of rest.

Relations: Pale elves get along better with dwarves than other elven people simply because they tend to be more serious and keep their cryptic speech to a minimum around them. Halfings are welcome company as long as they carry themselves with happiness. Pale elves do not have a tend to bother with gnomes, although they are not aggressive towards them. Pale elves tend to hate half-orcs, but only because they associate them with their more brutish kin. Most pale elves look at humans the way any other elf would.

Alignment: Pale elves tend to lean towards the best idea for the present, regardless of good or evil. Therefore they are typically neutral, however this is just a stereotype and not a steadfast rule.

Pale Elf Lands: Pale elves live wherever they can. Whimsical in nature, they will set up camps that have just as much chance of turing into a village as they to of relocating the next day. Whatever construction they erect never damages the landscape or hurt the local environment the way humans and dwarves do when they settle.,br /> Pale elves originate from Nostandor and are most numerous at the far northern part of the continent. Those that settle in human lands usually try to make a new name for themselves. It is common to see a pale elven scout or guide in some regions.

Religion: Most pale elves shun religion, although some will worship Corellon Larethian, the Protector and Preserver of life, or Fharlanghn, the god of Roads. Most pale elves will worship nature or spirits rather than a deity.

Language: Pale elves speak the same fluid language that other elves speak, although they have their own dialects that can confuse non-native elven speakers at first.

Names: Pale elves are given a name at birth, but just as other elves do usually an elf will choose a new name for themselves once they reach 100 years. All pale elves have a family name that they carry with them. The family name is usually just a combination of two words, which is typically translated into common by other races.
Male names: Aiaruen, Benrodyr, Deruwyn, Morgan, Oreth, Reuel, Telmar, Yslar
Female Names: Amlaith, Calahir, Dolartu, Felwyn, Kessa, Wlwain, Wendelain
Family Names: Agaruithil ("Crimsonmoon"), Domelumi ("Darkcloud"), Seimvano ("Gentlestep"), Siannodel ("Moonbrook"), Tirilmen ('Brightsky")

Adventurers: Pale elves adventure to escapre their ancestory and amend themselves. They are just as curious as other elves can be, so a pale elf without any strong ties to his tribe may leave to explore on their own. Most who take up the adventuring lifestyle don't ignore how useful companions are and typically welcome company as long as they don't prod into the elf's past very often.
